May 3rd ebay & Beyond Basics to Business Program To Feature OLA.com Rummage Sale

April 29, 2008 · Filed Under Internet Marketing

Many ecommerce merchants are constantly looking for new maketplaces to sell their products or services. One such site is Onlineauction.com, and over 275 (could be over 300 by now) of the sellers on the site have banded together to promote the relatively young auction venue. These sellers know that they, along with the sites owners MUST work together to draw buyers to the site. OLA has begun doing their part by launching TV ads on several cable channels including Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Fox, The Speed Channel, The SciFi Channel, and VH1 that will run April 25th thru May 7th with a potential audience of 40,000,000 viewers.

The sellers for their part have begun a grassroots movement to promote the side thru what they are calling the Rummage Sale, running from May 1st thru May 7th. All items in the Rummage Sale will be in true auction format with starting prices no higher than $0.99. Those participating agree to list at least 10 items in a category that was created specifically for this event called what else??? Rummage Sale. All items in the sale must have some value according to one organizer whose user name is Callmemomo. No JUNK will be allowed. Sellers are promoting the event through emails, blogs, posters, ads in local newspapers and nearly any other way they can think of.

Chris Fain, CEO of Onlineauction.com said “Listing fees and final value fees are not necessary. All the money we need to run this site can be made by the monthly membership fees for sellers of just a flat $8.00 per month and the Verified Buyers fees which are just $4.00 per month. (Basic buyers can buy with no fee wtih some limitations) in an interview on this radio program. This concept is a good one in my mind. Why should sellers carry all the burden?

In any event, tune into our weekly live internet radio program ebay & Beyond: Basics to Business  Saturday May 3rd from 10 AM to Noon ET to hear all about the items available and possibly from some of the sellers.

Hi Sparky, Beverly and I joined OLA in March of 2006 so we are not that new to OnlineAuction.com. We have seen many attempts by other OLA members to spark interest in getting OLA noticed. Most attempts were in the form of listing contests held by member CARDMANLOU1 giving his own cash as prizes. These events were a great help in getting OLA’s item count to above 10,000,000.

The call to OLA members to join in the up coming Rummage Sale event offered no special prize of any kind for participating yet members are being added to the list everyday. This tells me a lot about these members. They want to get noticed more than receiving some sort of prize for being a part of the activities going on at OnlineAuction.com.

To turn an idea into a major grassroots movement in such a short amount of time is almost breath taking to all of us involved. OLA members are creating their own blogs, as Scott Pooler suggested, filling them with great content OnlineAuction.com Members Blogs. Scotty Mays created an UnOfficial OLA Web Page. The excitement is over whelming at times as this group of over 300 members are racing the clock to get their items ready to begin listing on May 1st.

Most of us will be in the audience listing to your May 3ed interview with callmemomo. Thank you for all your help in making this an event that OLA members can be proud of.

    James
